Mefix Dressing Fixation Fabric. Dressing fixation fabric tape secures gauze, tubes, cannulas, dressings and drainage devices, even to awkward areas of the body. Porous and nonabsorbing fabric minimizes fluid strike-through. Mild, skin-friendly adhesive layer allows the skin to breathe.
Mefix is the ideal fixation for dressings, swabs, catheters, and tubes. It provides secure fixation and the adhesive is gentle to the skin.
How Mefix Works:
The porous structure of the nonwoven fabric ensures air and water vapour permeability. The fabric is flexible, conforms well to body contours, and allows body movements when in place. The fabric is non-absorbent and provides a barrier for blood and fluid strike-through. The water-based polyacrylate adhesive has been designed to be gentle to the skin and at the same time provide secure fixation.
The easy-to-remove protection paper is pre-measured in 10 cm intervals, and has a perforated split for easy removal and application. Mefix can easily be cut to the desired shape and size.
Questions:
Mefix does not seem to stick well alone, so i use a tacky skin prep to "help". However, the skin prep does not seem to enhance the adhesion to the skin. Are there any recommendations to improving the Mefix adhesion? Thanks!

I have found that the skin must be dry before application and then hold your hand on the Mefix after application for about 2 minutes and that heat sticks it really well.Thats all it needs.
