TELFA AMD Antimicrobial Adhesive Island Dressings
Sterile 1's in Peel Back Package, Adherent

TELFA AMD is impregnated with PHMB (Polyhexamethylene Biguanide), a powerful yet safe antiseptic that has a broad range effectiveness against gram positive and gram negative microorganisms including some multi-drug resistant strains such as MRSA and VRE.

This exciting product provides healthcare facilities a low cost, prophylactic method of treatment without changing nursing protocol. In addition to its antimicrobial capabilities the TELFA AMD Adhesive Island Dressings have a perforated mylar film with an absorbent core ideal for use as a primary dressing for lightly draining wounds.

How PHMB Works:

  1. PHMB binds to bacteria’s phospholipid (outer) membrane
  2. Disrupts membrane, causing cytoplasm to leak out
  3. Cell’s protective layer disintegrates
  4. Cell collapses and dies

AMD is effective against:

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Staphylococcus epidermidis
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Escherichia coli
  • Candida albicans
  • Staphylococcus coagulase
  • Proteus mirabilis
  • Serratia marcescens
  • Enterbacter cloacae
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae
  • Enterococcus faecalis
