WideBand Male External Catheters are the new standard for male external catheters. For the first time, the adhesive is built into nearly the entire sheath wall. It has 70% more adhesive area than is found in the self-adhering styles developed in the 80's. Rochester Medical Corporation has patented this advanced manufacturing process, providing more security without requiring more aggressive adhesive.
The distinctive design of the Wide Band catheter involves more than just an extended length of the adhesive area. WideBand is the only catheter with its adhesive placement beginning just behind the glans. This forward-placement of the
the adhesive is patented and provides two important features:
Helps prevent urine migration up the penis shaft, which results in premature removal
Helps prevent urine build-up around the head of the penis, which results in catheter blow-off.
Questions:
Male exterior catheters - how exactly are these used/attached? I am a caregiver and before purchasing want to be sure this would work well for trips in car or visiting.

They are condom catheters, which means they are applied just like a condom. They work well with trips in cars and must have a leg bag system attached to the condom catheter for the urine to collect.

My 91 year old uncle used them successfully on his own for most of last year. He was taught how to put them on when in rehab. but often would go through two or three in order to get it successfully attached. Because of a constant drip, many times the adhesive would get wet and he would have to throw the $1.65 condom away and try again. He would not let me put them on him. As demensia got worse, he couldn't remember how to put them on or maybe forgot, and we would have one wet seat after another. They were great while he could put them on properly, but now it's back to changing diapers every few hours.

I didn't like diapers, since they always leaked and were so uncomfortable. Too messy. These work better, and are so much cleaner.
