I wish I had a chill-pill for all you stress monsters, especially in these crazy times. I'd probably pop a few myself. Alas, most of us could do with fewer vices and more good old fashioned relaxation. Remember, you are no good to anyone unless you're good to yourself.

Getting older is a blessing, for sure, but even longevity has its price. Creaky, sore joints. Sometimes when I stand up I sound like an old rocking chair making a bag of popcorn. And how about when it rains, or your hands get cold and you can barely bend your fingers? For some, these are just minor aches and pains, but for others they are the result of Osteoarthritis, or Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) - the most common type of arthritis. There are many types of arthritis, some more debilitating than others.

I've been nickle and dime-ing my bedroom for years, chasing an image of the perfect, snuggly sleeping chamber. A dark shade here, a humidifier there, wave sounds, soothing colors... but a recent lower back problem pushed me to take a comprehensive look at the bed itself. Needless to say, I have a new bed . . . and mattress. . . pillows . . . and, okay, well, pretty much everything. Hey, don't we spend, like, a third of our lives in bed? So, anyway.

Last year I lost my beloved German Shepherd, Lady, after 14 years. I had rescued her at 9 months old, and she was my constant companion.
